Founder and President of Preferred Financial Strategies, Inc., Sara is a graduate of Virginia Intermont College and the University of Virginia. In 1986 she received the professional designation of Certified Financial Planner (CFP) from the College for Financial Planning in Denver. Her practice has always focused on comprehensive analysis through use of the financial planning process. She stays current by attending over 80 hours of continuing education annually. Sara serves as a mentor to many advisors and created a private interactive collaborative web site for other women advisors.
Entering the financial services industry in 1979, she rapidly advanced to become the youngest Division Manager with a prior firm, and only the second female to hold that position. Professional recognition includes being a finalist three times for the National Association of Women Business Owners - Charlotte, Woman Business Owner of the Year, President's Elite team at FSC Securities Corporation, One of 50 Most Influential Women in Charlotte, a Top 25 Women in Business, amd one of the Top 300 Small Businesses in the South.
An advocate for clients, a mentor for peers and a pathfinder in the profession Sara values her long term personal and professional relationships.
Some of her community involvement includes Carolina's Chapter of the Financial Planning Association, National Association of Women Business Owners, Greater Charlotte eWomen Network. PFS, Inc. is a longstanding member of the Mooresville - South Iredell Chamber and the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce. A business advocate, Sara created TCOB-LKN, a professional networking and mastermind group for diciplines related to the financial health of the public.
